#1 - Unprecedented commitment
The privilege it is to serve you is not lost on us.
We know you have options. We know we have competition. We know that you can always find somebody else if we fail to meet or exceed your expectations. Every single customer matters to a small business owner and no customer is replaceable.
That's why we focus on why we do what we do, what we promise, and how to make it right when we don't deliver. Our commitment to you is personal and we stand behind it, because we can't afford not to.
#2 - Supporting family values
Every time Dakota makes a purchase, he folds the receipt up and tucks it carefully into his metal clipboard.
At the end of the week, he comes home and gives his 12-year-old daughter, Mya, the stack of receipts, and she goes to work sorting the personal receipts from the business ones and then categorizing them for filing: supplies, auto expenses, gas. When she's done, she gets the cash in his wallet. Sometimes it's a dollar. Sometimes it's more.
When you support small, family-owned business, you support family values. Teaching. Contributing. Teamwork. Learning.
#3 - Boosting the local economy
Our dollars stay in the community, which means that when you support us, you indirectly support our local businesses.
We get our logo attire from Logo Magic and our caramel rolls at Country Rose Cafe. We purchase our kitchen gadgets from Newby's Ace Hardware and Salt Kitchen & Co. We spend our anniversary at The Brickhouse. We fuel up at Cenex and City Brew. We seek healthcare at CHI St. Alexius Health in Dickinson. When you support us, you support Southwest North Dakota.
#5 - Giving to the least of these
Both Dakota and I have rags-to-less-rags stories. We raised children on our own and spent some years of our lives struggling to make ends meet. We're humbled by those experiences, the kindness of others, and the undeserved, inexplicable blessings of God that pulled us through those most challenging years.
As a result, we've made it our goal to increase our charitable giving every year. In fact, every January, we sit down together, determine what percentage of our total revenue we gave back to our state and community, and set an increased goal for the upcoming year.
In 2019, we gave almost 6% of our gross revenue back to non-profits in our community. It's our goal to increase that number by at least a full percent in 2020 and we're off to a great start.
This year, your dollars have supported Jacobson Memorial Hospital Care Center in Elgin; the F5 Project; Dickinson Backpack Program; Connect Medical Clinic; the 31:8 Project; A Wife Like Me; Adult & Teen Challenge North Dakota; Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation; Bridging the Dental Gap; and CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson.
All because you trusted us with your business - and we are so grateful.
Keep choosing small and local & we'll keep reinvesting those dollars.
